“ Al's cafe is near Roeding Park. As long as I can remember Als is a great place to eat. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. The staff are always accomodating and friendly. Even though the weekends can be busy in the morning they are quick to get your group in. Its worth the wait. They used to be in down town Fresno over twenty or 30 years ago. So they know how to provide great service and create excellent breakfast and mexican food. Try it out. ”

“ The service here is remarkable. The servers are attentive, on the ball and super friendly, despite a very busy high-pressure environment... really is remarkable! If you order an alteration, that's what you get. Some places don't even pay attention with simple things like adding onions.. This location is holding them back. They should absolutely explore a newer, larger restaurant. It's beyond beat up, old and dumpy... The parking lot is dumpy, unkept, with homeless stuff strewn about. And while I don't really care as long as the food's good, it's super crowded, noisy, and a bit chaotic. Almost like eating on a crowded bus, the table next to me must've F bombed 50 times in the 15 minutes it took me to knock back the meal... Yeah, offensive! I would NOT bring an elderly frail person here, someone disabled or hard of hearing. Since I was eating here alone, I made a note on the check in sheet: "I eat fast!" They seemed to like that little aside. A table opened up pretty quickly and I got to jump the line.. splendid! As is usually the case, I order water, no straw, ice or lemon...and when the food hits the table, I ask for the check when they get a chance. Hey, efficiency, two birds with one stone stuff! The food hits the table fast. The hashbrowns ALONE were worth the drive... delicious, perfectly cooked with a rich buttery flavor lacking at most breakfast places, I will come here some time and order three sides... assembly line style. Hey, I'm burning a lot of calories in the gym, it's a recovery day and I'm hitting the elliptical for 40 minutes later! The Chilaquiles were decent but Las Mañanitas is unmatched with their version (chili verde). This one didn't seem to have chips that were tossed in sauce, the asada wasn't the best, the sauce was okay, laying just on top... The beans and the eggs were excellent! The food here was nicely portioned. Wherever I go, I rarely need a menu since things are so available to review PRIOR to ever stepping foot in a place. With unknown lighting factors, size of fonts or even TOUCHING some crapped out menu, I look at the pics of food and usually decide PRIOR to going. Not into crowds, tightly packed spaces and scabies/covid/whatever transmission, it's a roll of the dice in places like this. Come on, you're packed out with lines coming all day, get a LARGER restaurant! Not a close location for me, I would return...haunted in ways most delightful by that hash brown done right with his little sidekick, buttery flavor! -G ”
